Who we are
Las Guerrillas is a high school robotics team with students mostly from the International Academy Okma Campus located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Team 469, Las Guerrillas gives students an opportunity to pursue an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. This is made
possible by having dedicated coaches and mentors on the team who work with students round the clock throughout the year.
Las Guerrillas was founded in the year 2000 by Gail Alpert, who is currently President of FIRST in Michigan. During FIRST 2019 competitions, we celebrated our 20th year of existence by naming our robot as Cornelius XX and putting a small 20th anniversary logo on team shirts.
What we do
Team 469 : Las Guerrillas participates in both the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and Oakland County Competitive Robotics Association(OCCRA).
International Academy Okma is a public high school with admission by lottery, funded by 10 Consortium Districts:
Avondale, Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Clawson,
Lake Orion, Rochester, Royal Oak, Waterford and West Bloomfield.

Created in 2000, Las Guerrillas started by winning the Rookie
All-Star Award at the Great Lakes Invitational 2000. The team has gone on to win many awards and Competitions, the most recent is the Imagery Award in the District FRC Event at Troy-Athens High School. Imagery award is given for attractiveness in engineering and outstanding visual aesthetic integration from machine to the team appearance.

Mission - Our Team inspires high School students to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by building skills not only in Science and Technology but a well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

Team 469 keeps the vision of making young minds well versed in Science and Technology that they dream of pursuing it in future.
